  • We're planning to try some of the beginner/intermediate war games from OverTheWire.org

    Leviathan
    This wargame doesn't require any knowledge about programming - just a bit of common sense and some knowledge about basic *nix commands. We had no idea that it'd be this hard to make an interesting wargame that wouldn't require programming abilities from the players. Hopefully we made an interesting challenge for the new ones.

    Natas
    Natas teaches the basics of serverside web-security.

    Krypton
    The Krypton wargame features encryption and ciphers.

    The games start easily, but get complex quickly - so those that already know their way around will get a challenge too.

    This is a great event to get to know everyone, you can work through the levels at your own pace, or just help out others that are stuck. We'll also talk you through the solutions to help beginners learn.

    We're being hosted in The Gamer Club, so there is free tea and coffee, or you are welcome to bring in your own...

  • A guided exploration of the Linux server command line.

    Aimed at absolute beginners. We'll show how to securely connect to a server then we'll work through Bandit, an adventure game set in the command line that progresses step-by-step from the basics to common programs and beyond.

    This will be an in-person event in the quiet lounge of the newly open The Gamer Club, on Bath Lane next door to The Buff Club.

    I'll work through the challenges on the big screen and explain what I'm doing as well all work together though the levels. Join in and play along or feel free to work on your own through the advanced war games and someone there should be able to assist you if needed.

    This time it’s all about Community Safety

    Book at ticket now: ti.to

    What is Community Safety?

    The phrase Community Safety can cover a large range of issues. Challenges relating to any of these could be addressed at CTC32. Here are some examples

    * Crime Prevention.
    * Law Enforcement
    * Emergency Preparedness.
    * Public Health.
    * Victim Support.
    * Community Engagement.
    * Environmental Safety.
    * Education and Awareness, etc.

    For each of these thematic areas, we will identify challenges, and how can the application of technology, coding, data, AI and associated approaches help to address those challenges?

    We already have an exciting challenge around the use of Computer Vis...
